Former UFC fighter Tim Kennedy was injured on September 17, 2026, in an ambush in South Kivu, DRC, targeting personnel from Erik Prince's security company, Vectus Global. He was shot three times in the leg and is in stable condition at Walter Reed Medical Center. Justin Conaglen, a former New Zealand special forces corporal, was killed in the attack, which reportedly resulted in around twenty casualties, including at least seven Congolese. Vectus Global, founded by Erik Prince, has been operating in the DRC since April 2025 under a $700 million contract to secure mining areas.
