DRC: International Contact Group urges inclusive inter-Congolese dialogue, says political differences cannot be resolved by force

The International Contact Group for the Great Lakes Region, chaired by France and including European countries, Canada, the United States and the European Union, voiced concern over continuing hostilities in the DRC and fighting in the east. In a statement issued on October 30, 2026, it reaffirmed its support for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and called for respect for the Constitution and the rule of law. The group urged a peaceful, inclusive inter-Congolese dialogue, saying political differences cannot be resolved by force, and called on parties to the Washington and Doha processes to act in good faith toward a lasting peace.
