DRC: Kinshasa at a standstill after opposition calls for a 'dead city' day

The capital of the DRC experienced reduced activity on Wednesday following a call for a 'dead city' operation by the opposition coalition C64 to denounce plans to amend the Constitution. Many shops remained closed and traffic was lighter in some neighborhoods of Kinshasa. Organizers said they wanted to alert public opinion to the consequences of a constitutional revision, while the government did not officially respond.
