In a statement published in Lubumbashi on October 21, 2026, the citizen movement Lucha said the political deal between Joseph Kabila and Félix Tshisekedi after the 2018 elections sacrificed popular sovereignty. Kinshasa sent an official protest to Belgian authorities while saying diplomatic channels remain open. Muyaya noted that one of the searched residences is a rental house the president temporarily occupies when traveling.
