DRC: Mass population identification announced for mid-December 2026

The government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced the launch of mass population identification operations by the National Office for Population Identification (ONIP) for mid-December 2026. During the 98th Council of Ministers meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Jacquemain Shabani Lukoo emphasized the importance of synchronizing funding and operational needs of ONIP to ensure the success of this initiative. This announcement follows the establishment of a new management committee at ONIP by President Félix Tshisekedi in June 2026.
