DRC: Nearly 3,000 human rights violations recorded in 6 months

The United Nations Joint Office for Human Rights (BCNUDH) documented 2,996 human rights violations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo during the first six months of 2026, affecting 6,189 victims. Although the number of violations decreased by 10% compared to the previous semester, this does not necessarily indicate an improvement in the situation. Conflict-affected provinces, particularly Ituri and North Kivu, remain the most impacted, with armed groups such as AFC/M23 and ADF committing human rights abuses.
