MONUSCO conducted a partial relief of its Uruguayan contingent in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, on September 1. Colonel Mathias Capó takes command of the battalion, assisted by Colonel Rodolfo Ramírez. This rotation involves 177 soldiers out of a total of 748 Uruguayan peacekeepers, with the last flight carrying the new soldiers still awaited. The mission paid tribute to the outgoing soldiers who were deployed during the fighting in January 2025.
