DRC: Resource Giant, Sixth Lowest Productive Capacity in the World

The DRC, despite its wealth in minerals and natural resources, ranks 190th globally with a score of 22.6 points in the Productive Capacity Index for 2024. The country scores 43.7 points for natural capital but only 8.7 points for transport, highlighting a significant imbalance. Between 2021 and 2023, the Congolese score slightly improved before declining in 2024. UNCTAD notes that limited data availability remains a challenge for least developed countries.
