At a meeting with the Congolese diaspora in Moscow on October 30, 2026, Félix Tshisekedi accused Rwanda of backing Laurent-Désiré Kabila’s AFDL and seeking to keep the Congolese population under its influence. He claimed Joseph Kabila was placed in power after his father’s death to serve Rwandan interests. Tshisekedi also said that, when they were in a coalition, Joseph Kabila told him he disliked Rwandans and accused them of killing his father. He likened the aims of the FRN, led by Joseph Kabila and described as the successor to the AFC/M23, to those of the AFDL.
