DRC: Women from several organizations in Kinshasa celebrate 26 years since the adoption of UN Resolution 1325

More than 200 women from organizations including Tufaulu Pamoja, Rien Sans les Femmes, and Justice et Paix au Congo gathered in Kinshasa to mark the 26th anniversary of UN Resolution 1325. Held at the National Institute of Arts, the event aimed to strengthen women’s and young people’s leadership and participation in peace, security, and decision-making processes in the DRC. Nathalie Yoka Mbombo highlighted a mentoring program for 240 aspiring politicians, while Annie Matundu said the resolution remains little known and called for women to make up 30% of participants in peace processes and the announced national dialogue. Matundu also noted that women account for an estimated 34% of the government and advocated translating the resolution into national languages.
