DRC’s 2027 budget proposal, valued at $24.8 billion, declared admissible by National Assembly

The DRC National Assembly declared the 2027 budget proposal admissible on October 30. Valued at 56.93 trillion Congolese francs, or about $24.8 billion, the proposal is nearly 12% higher than the revised 2026 budget and prioritizes security, infrastructure, agriculture, employment and basic social services. Lawmakers called for action on local needs, including access to drinking water, electricity and roads, and urged transparent management of public funds. The ECOFIN committee has 20 days to review the proposal; Prime Minister Judith Suminwa defended its priorities, and Assembly President Aimé Boji Sangara called for a rigorous examination.
