Driver and Carpenter Sentenced to Hang for Armed Robbery in Ondo

The Ondo State High Court in Akure sentenced carpenter Lasisi Nureni and driver Akintan Adebayo to seven years in prison for conspiracy to commit armed robbery and death by hanging for armed robbery. Justice William Olamide ruled that the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that they knowingly took part in the crime. Driver Omojolowo Boluwaji testified that the assailants stole his vehicle, five phones, a laptop, jewellery and 1.39 million naira after assaulting him and his wife. Police traced a stolen phone to Imesi in Osun State, where Nureni was arrested; both defendants denied the charges.
