Drone attacks extend campaign targeting Sudan’s power system

Drone strikes reportedly hit three electricity substations in Sudan on Monday: facilities in New Halfa and Aroma in Kassala State, and the al-Ghazali substation in Northern State. The attacks caused power outages across parts of the country and brought the number of reported strikes on the electricity network to 18 in a week. Sudan’s military government accuses Ethiopia of helping the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which it has fought since April 2023, and says it has filed complaints with the UN and African Union. The army also said RSF members surrendered to its forces in Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile State.
