DSS Shoots Two Suspected Gunrunners and Arrests Two Others in Cross River State

Department of State Services (DSS) operatives shot two suspects and arrested two others during an operation along the Bekwarra-Ogoja axis in Cross River State. The four men were reportedly tracked from northern Nigeria through Benue State while allegedly transporting illegal firearms. Governor Bassey Otu, represented by Deputy Governor Peter Odey, said the state would not tolerate arms being brought in or violence linked to political activities. The arrested suspects are to be charged in court as investigators work to establish the weapons’ source and identify their alleged sponsors and intended recipients.
