Dozens of children from Kahunga and Karama in Bukoma group, Rutshuru (North Kivu), are dropping out after the second grade due to the lack of classrooms. The Kahunga Village primary school, operating with only two locally built classrooms, has 70 students this year. Children have to walk up to ten kilometers to continue their education, which leads many families to keep their children at home. Local authorities are calling for new classrooms and the assignment of a government-appointed teacher.
