Butembo: Visits Suspended at Kakwangura Prison Due to Increase in Ebola Cases

Authorities at Kakwangura Central Prison in Butembo suspended visits to inmates starting September 4 due to the increase in Ebola virus cases. Preventive measures, such as handwashing and temperature checks, have been reinforced at the prison entrance. Civil society welcomed this decision while highlighting overcrowding as an additional risk factor. Currently, the prison, designed for 200 people, houses nearly 1,366 inmates.
