Regional integration in East Africa must translate into concrete economic benefits, such as lower costs for traders and smoother movement of goods. Kenya's exports to the EAC rose by 9% to Ksh351 billion, accounting for 77% of its exports to Africa and nearly a third of its global exports. The regional trade surplus grew from Ksh217 billion in 2024 to Ksh248 billion in 2025. The country cleared outstanding EAC pending bills, aligned tax regimes, and dismantled structural barriers.
