EAC single market: What has been agreed in the revised Rules of Origin

The East African Community has reached an agreement on 95% of its revised Rules of Origin, marking a significant step towards a fully integrated, duty-free single market. However, a deadlock remains over the remaining 5%, with partner states divided on how to classify goods from sensitive sectors such as spices, textiles, and vehicles. Further evidence-based analysis is required to assess regional production capacity and input competitiveness.
