EACC Arrests Former Auditor-General Employee Over Forged KCSE Certificate

Kenya’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested a former Office of the Auditor-General employee at his home in Kibera, accusing him of using a forged KCSE certificate to obtain his job. Investigators say the certificate, purportedly issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council, claimed he had sat his exams at Orero Secondary School and enabled him to fraudulently acquire Ksh5,876,203.89 in public funds. He was charged with forgery, presenting a forged certificate and fraudulent acquisition of public property, then released on bail pending a court mention on November 5. The EACC is also pursuing other former public employees accused of using falsified academic credentials to secure jobs.
