EACC Arrests KRA Official Over Alleged Ksh100,000 Bribe to Clear Tax Arrears

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested a Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) official for allegedly soliciting a Ksh100,000 bribe to clear a company's tax arrears. The officer, working at KRA's Kisumu office, was accused of demanding this amount to remove tax arrears initially stated at Ksh4.5 million, later revised to Ksh142,230. After negotiations, the officer agreed to accept Ksh30,000, which was handed over under EACC surveillance, leading to his arrest.
