EACC Recovers Ksh40 Million Public Land With Three Government Houses in Kakamega

Kenya’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has recovered 1.05 acres of public land valued at Ksh40 million in Kakamega’s Milimani area, along with three government houses. Reserved for the State Department for Housing and Urban Development and already developed for public housing, the land was allocated to a private individual in 1992 and registered in his name in 1993. A consent agreement adopted by Justice Annet Nyukuri on September 22 provides for the property’s surrender and correction of the land register to cancel entries relating to the lease. The EACC said it is pursuing cancellation of the unlawfully acquired title and transfer of the property to the government.
