Early Morning Fire Engulfs Multi-Storey Apartment Building in Ongata Rongai

A fire broke out on the morning of Tuesday, October 27, at a multi-storey apartment building in Mbagathi Greens Estate, Ongata Rongai, behind Maasai Mall. Flames tore through the upper floors and destroyed the rooftop, sending thick black smoke into the air, but did not spread to nearby buildings. Water bowsers helped put out the fire after several hours; the cause, any casualties and the extent of the damage remain unknown. Witnesses criticized the firefighters’ late arrival and Nairobi County’s emergency response.
