Early release scheme could still see dangerous criminals released, Conservatives warn

Shadow justice secretary Nick Timothy warned that dangerous criminals could still be released under the prime minister's early release scheme. This follows Andy Burnham's announcement that the scheme would be narrowed to exclude those convicted of manslaughter. Currently, 2,271 people are serving Imprisonment for Public Protection sentences, with 856 never released due to public safety concerns.
