East Africa tourism players push for cheaper travel and seamless payments

Tourism stakeholders in East Africa are calling for urgent reforms to lower travel costs in the region, citing high airfares and expensive cross-border transactions. They want EAC governments to improve air connectivity and implement Article 104 of the EAC Treaty, which promotes the free movement of people and goods. Discussions took place in Mombasa among tourism operators and policymakers, with proposals set to be presented at a regional summit on October 26-27.
