Eastern DRC: UN Calls for Urgent Ceasefire and Reiterates Call for Rwanda to Withdraw Troops and Cease Support to M23

UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, Awa Dabo, called for an immediate end to hostilities in eastern DRC during the UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva. She reiterated the need for Rwanda to withdraw its troops from Congo and cease support for the M23 group, amid escalating clashes between M23, backed by Rwandan forces, and Congolese armed forces supported by local groups. Over 6.1 million people are displaced within the country due to the conflict.
