Ébinto premiered on 15 October 2026 at Pathé Cap Sud in Abidjan. Directed by Luc Gnepa from a screenplay by Gauz, the film adapts Amadou Koné’s novel and follows Ébinto as he leaves Akounougbé to study in Grand-Bassam in 1970s Côte d’Ivoire, where he encounters school hardships and first love with Murielle. Monique, his guardian’s daughter, remains close to him, but a pregnancy and unexpected responsibilities strain their relationship and change his behavior. The story moves audiences from laughter to sorrow and recalls the first love and heartbreak known as “goumin.”
