Ebola: EAC trains 120 health professionals in Nairobi and calls for 45 million USD support

The East African Community (EAC), including the DRC, has launched training for 120 frontline health professionals from its 8 member states to strengthen their preparedness for infectious disease outbreaks like Ebola in eastern DRC. The training in Nairobi is part of the tEACH program in collaboration with GIZ, featuring practical simulations on case identification, prevention, sample collection, and emergency response. EAC has also established a network of 10 mobile laboratories across seven countries for rapid diagnostics and estimates a need of 45 million USD for an effective response, with Germany contributing an additional 4.8 million USD to train 500 health agents, raise community awareness, and procure protective equipment.
