Despite 'encouraging signs' in the fight against the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that efforts to eradicate the virus are 'far from over'. Weekly cases in North Kivu province have doubled to over 200. Additionally, the emergence of a rare strain of Ebola, the Bundibugyo virus, complicates the situation, with more than 7,200 cases reported since the outbreak was declared in May.
