Ebola in Butembo: 11 people, including five non-cases, discharged from Katwa treatment centre in two days

Eleven people, including five non-cases, left the Ebola treatment centre in Katwa, Butembo, on October 15 and 16, 2026. Among them were Kambale Mwirawavake, who was infected while caring for a sick relative, and Matthieu Very, a nurse from Byakato in Ituri; both urged people to follow health workers’ guidance and seek care promptly if symptoms or possible exposure occur. A response report dated October 10 recorded 18 newly recovered patients and 2,356 recoveries since the outbreak was declared in May 2026.
