Ebola in DRC: 7,946 cases and 3,833 deaths, new infections decline but response under tension

The number of new Ebola infections in DRC is decreasing, with 56 confirmed cases on September 24, mainly in North Kivu and Ituri. Since mid-May, the total cases have reached 7,946 with 3,833 deaths, a case fatality rate of 48.2%. Authorities are concerned about deaths occurring outside treatment centers and declining contact tracing, especially in Mandima and Beni. Vaccination efforts are slow, and logistical and financial challenges hinder the response.
