Ebola in Ituri: 857 frontline workers vaccinated as part of ERVEBO study

MSF and Epicentre have vaccinated 857 out of 20,000 frontline workers in Ituri and North Kivu as part of the BRAVO study launched on September 19, 2026, in Bunia. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of the ERVEBO vaccine against the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, which is responsible for the current outbreak in DRC. Conducted with multiple partners, the research seeks to determine if ERVEBO can provide protection against this strain, despite being approved for the Zaïre strain. The vaccination targets health professionals and other high-risk workers, with informed consent obtained from all participants.
