Ebola in Ituri: Difficulties in Tracking Movements Between Health Zones

In Ituri, tracking movements related to the Ebola outbreak is challenging due to travelers moving between different health zones. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) recorded over 65,000 crossings at seven checkpoints from September 7 to 13, with most trips crossing zone boundaries. However, these controls do not cover all routes or movements outside operating hours, making tracking incomplete. Expanding checkpoint coverage is essential to improve surveillance and monitor the spread of the virus more effectively.
