After an Ebola case was confirmed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) urged the public to remain calm and rely on verified information. The agency said the Federal Government and health authorities were strengthening surveillance and response efforts. It noted that Ebola spreads through direct contact with the blood or body fluids of an infected person who is sick or has died, or with contaminated materials. Suspected cases should be reported promptly via the 24-hour toll-free line, 6232.
