Ebola: Oyo activates surveillance network across 33 local government areas

Oyo State has activated disease surveillance networks in all 33 local government areas and prepared its Infectious Disease Centre at Olodo for a possible Ebola outbreak. Health Commissioner Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi said no case had been confirmed and urged residents to remain vigilant. Preparations begun in June 2026 include cooperation across human, animal and environmental health sectors, distribution of prevention information, and reinforced infection-control measures in healthcare facilities. Ajetunmobi urged anyone with suspicious symptoms to seek medical attention promptly, noting that Ebola’s incubation period can range from two to 21 days.
