Ebola: price hike of products in Kasindi after Ugandan border closure

Since June 4, 2026, prices of basic necessities have risen in Kasindi-Lubirigha due to the closure of the Ugandan border following an Ebola outbreak. Civil society calls on Congolese and Ugandan authorities to strengthen health measures instead of closing the border. Paul Zaidi, general rapporteur of the Basongora civil society, worries about the economic consequences for households and farmers. The Federation of Congolese Enterprises asks traders not to raise prices.
