Ebola: Revised 180-Day Plan Launched by DRC and Partners, Estimated at 1.3 Billion USD to Intensify Response and Save Lives

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has launched a revised 180-day multisectoral plan to intensify the response to the 17th Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo virus. Supported by the WHO and other partners, the plan aims to save lives and halt transmission, as the country faces 6,342 cases and 3,072 deaths as of September 2, 2026. Health authorities emphasize the urgency of acting quickly to protect vulnerable populations, as most deaths occur within unrecognized communities.
