Ebola scare: NEMA chief urges calm and warns against contact with suspected cases

NEMA Director-General Zubaida Umar urged Nigerians to remain calm after a reported Ebola case was confirmed in the Federal Capital Territory, where the patient has been isolated and is receiving medical care. Health authorities are intensifying surveillance and contact tracing, led by the Federal Ministry of Health, the NCDC and FCT health services. Umar advised frequent handwashing, avoiding contact with bodily fluids and wild animals, and seeking medical guidance promptly if symptoms develop after possible exposure. She urged the public to cooperate with contact tracers and avoid spreading rumours; the NCDC toll-free number is 6232.
