Nigeria’s federal government has summoned Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leaders to a conciliation meeting in Abuja on Thursday, October 22, 2026, one day before the union’s ultimatum expires. The NLC is demanding, among other measures, lower petrol prices, negotiations for a new national minimum wage, and implementation of outstanding agreements with public- and health-sector workers. The union warned it could take further action if the demands issued on October 9 are not met by October 23. The Ministry of Labour said the meeting is intended to support constructive dialogue and maintain industrial peace.
