ECOWAS Budget: Nigeria Up to Date, 4 Countries Including Côte d'Ivoire Have Unpaid Debts

The 2026 ECOWAS budget amounts to 411.7 million units of account, with revenues of 149.8 million UC as of June 15, 2026, representing 36.4% of the annual allocation. Nigeria made payments of $54 million in December 2024 and $100.3 million in 2026, contributing to the revenue improvement. However, total arrears have reached 595.7 million UC, accounting for 21.5% of the cumulative amount since 2003, with five member states concentrating nearly 88.5% of unpaid arrears.
