ECOWAS Commission: The 6 Priorities of Birame Diop's Team for the 2026-2030 Period

Birame Diop's team has taken over the ECOWAS Commission for a four-year term, with six strategic priorities to be achieved in the first 18 months. Among these priorities, negotiations with the AES countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger) are crucial, with a framework agreement expected by the end of 2026. Additionally, the launch of the single currency ECO is scheduled for 2027, and the ECOWAS Anti-Terrorism Brigade must reach full operational capacity by July 2027.
