Ecuador sentences ex-president Moreno to five years in jail in bribery case

An Ecuadorian court found former President Lenin Moreno guilty of bribery related to the construction of the country's largest hydroelectric plant. Moreno, 73, was sentenced to five years in prison and permanently barred from holding public office. His wife, Rocio Gonzalez Navas, along with other family members, received two and a half years in prison. Prosecutors alleged that funds were moved through overseas accounts and shell companies before reaching Moreno's family.
