Edo: Okpebholo ends regent’s appointment after 11 months

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has ended Nicholas Odamah’s appointment as regent of the Ikpeshi/Egbegere Clan in Akoko-Edo and restored Zaiki Luckman Momodu Odamah III as traditional ruler. In a letter dated October 20, 2026, the government said it acted after appeals from indigenes and confirmation that the leadership dispute was before a competent court. It urged all parties to remain calm while the judicial process proceeds and directed security agencies to maintain public order.
