Mobile money in UEMOA: 1,923 billion FCFA in circulation, portfolio out of the red

The Banking Commission of UEMOA published its 2025 annual report, revealing that 1.923 trillion FCFA of electronic money is in circulation, with a 35.2% increase year-on-year. Senegal, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, and Benin dominate the market, while the number of authorized establishments has risen to 78. The sector's revenue also grew by 12% in 2025, reaching 323.2 billion FCFA.
