EFCC outlines steps to send Maina’s son to prison after DSS arrest

Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed the arrest of Faisal Maina, son of former Pension Reform Task Team chairman Abdulrasheed Maina. DSS operatives arrested him in Karsana, Abuja; he had been on the run since 2020 after fleeing the country while on bail. He was sentenced in absentia to 14 years in prison in 2021 for money laundering and conspiracy. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said a court order would be obtained before Faisal is transferred to a correctional centre to serve his sentence.

Indian pilot Smit Machchhar told Sky News Arabia about being attacked with an axe in the cockpit of a flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv. Injured in the head and hand, he tried to open the cockpit door to let another pilot in before the aircraft plunged.
