Egypt maintains Global Gold Tier status in hepatitis C elimination

The World Health Organization has officially validated Egypt's maintenance of its Gold Tier status in hepatitis C elimination, making it the first country worldwide to achieve this recognition. This validation follows a thorough assessment of the 2023-2025 period, endorsed in July 2026. Egypt reduced hepatitis C prevalence from around 10% to less than 0.38% over a decade, supported by the _seha_ campaign that screened over 60 million people and treated more than 4.5 million.
