Egypt: Presenter Sarah Khalifa and 11 Others Sentenced to Death for Drug Trafficking

Egyptian presenter Sarah Khalifa, 39, has been sentenced to death by hanging along with eleven others for forming a criminal organization involved in synthetic drug trafficking. The Cairo criminal court also found the defendants guilty of illegal possession of firearms and imposed a fine of 500,000 Egyptian pounds. Nine other individuals received life sentences, while seven were acquitted. The case began with investigations into a network manufacturing and marketing drugs, with evidence presented by the prosecution including witness testimonies and digital elements.
