Egyptian TV presenter sentenced to death in major drug case

An Egyptian court has sentenced television presenter Sarah Khalifa and 11 others to death by hanging for drug-related charges. The defendants were found guilty of forming an organized criminal gang specializing in the manufacturing and trafficking of narcotics. Khalifa, 39, denied the charges and pleaded for mercy in court, claiming she had never used drugs. Nine co-defendants were also sentenced to life imprisonment.
