FIFA suspended Egypt coach Hossam Hassan for three matches and forward Mostafa Zico for five after they criticised the refereeing in Egypt’s World Cup round-of-16 loss to Argentina. Ibrahim Hassan, Hossam’s twin brother and the national team’s manager, also received a three-match suspension. The Egyptian Football Association has requested the disciplinary committee’s detailed reasons and is considering an appeal after reviewing the legal aspects. The bans could rule the Hassan brothers out of November’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Malawi, while Zico will be unavailable until June.
