El-Rufai: Northern activist demands bail variation for ex-Kaduna Gov

Human rights activist Ibrahim Garba Wala called on the judiciary to immediately review the bail conditions of former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, describing them as a calculated instrument of pre-trial punishment. He cited a recent intervention by NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe, who decried the weaponisation of bail conditions. Wala referenced the Court of Appeal ruling in Dasuki v. DG, SSS and the ACJA 2015 to argue the conditions are excessive. He also alleged a political motive behind El-Rufai's prolonged detention.
