El-Sayed, Rogers hold dueling rallies as bitter campaign comes to a close

On the eve of the US midterm elections, Democrat Abdul El-Sayed and Republican Mike Rogers held their final rallies on Monday in Michigan’s bitter Senate race. In Rochester Hills, Rogers cast the contest as a fight for the “heart and soul of the country” and urged supporters to defeat the “Democrat Socialists of America.” In Detroit, speaking to members of the United Auto Workers, El-Sayed focused on the cost of living and condemned attacks targeting his name and Muslim faith. Polls suggest the previously close race has moved further out of reach for Republicans.
